Technical Handbooks
Restyling Exercise
The present format of the Technical Handbooks was introduced in 2005 and the SBS considered it would be helpful to have the views of their major stakeholders on the style and usability of the books and to consider how best to improve the accessibility of the building regulations in the future.
A questionnaire was issued through the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and the Scottish Association of Building Standards Managers (SABSM) to gauge members’ reactions to the Handbooks. Following the return of the questionnaire, 3 steering groups from these organisations were set up to discuss the issues raised.
The notes of the meetings and the reports listed below provide an indication of what was discussed and agreed.
