Think about making it easier to reach controls and give yourself enough room to move safely.
- Don’t put units under the window.
- Have the switch for the extract fan fitted above the countertop or beside the light switch.
- If any electrical sockets are concealed below kitchen units, have a switch fitted above the countertop or in another easy to reach place.
- Have sockets fitted 150mm (6") above countertops. You may find it helps to have one or two sockets fixed to side walls.
- Leave clear floor space 1.5 x 1.5 m (4'11" x 4'11") or 1.4 x 1.8 m (4'7" x 5'11"), including a 1m (3'3") deep space in front of the oven.
