Rain falling on the roof is usually drained away into the sewers or local watercourses, but you can collect rain to water the garden instead of using drinking water. A hose can use 15 litres of drinking water each minute!
- Collect rainwater in a rain water butt by fitting a diverter on a downpipe from the rhones or gutters — any overflow will go into the rainwater drainage system.
