Certification Handbook
The Certification Handbook explains the roles and responsibilities of those involved in the certification system and procedures to be followed for the assessment of applications for new schemes and scheme provider status.
The information presented relates to:
- schemes approved under section 7(2) and
- direct appointments under section 7(1) of the Building Scotland Act 2003.
The handbook provides guidance on the optional procedure of certification available for work that is subject to the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004 as amended.

The new Handbook is dated November 2007. This version combines the previous two seperate handbooks for schemes and direct appointments into one comprehensive document.
