Certification Register
The Certification Register is the only source of information
on Approved Certifiers and Approved Bodies in Scotland. The Certification Register can be accessed by clicking here.
The Register provides search facilities
to help you find and contact an Approved Body that offers Certification
services in your local authority area. The current registration status of known firms can also be checked. When
contact is made, the Certification Co-ordinator at the firm identifies
an appropriate Approved Certifier for the project.
Local Authority Verifiers use the Register to check validity of a Certificate when submitted to them in support of either a Building Warrant application or a Completion Certificate. The Verifier also checks the registration status of the Certifier of Construction when a notice of intent to use certification at completion is received.
Important Note:
The full registration number format must be entered into the Register to check the validity of a certificate or to check notice of intent to use a certifier. E.g. SER1-D-00000
The Date of Signature should also be entered in the correct format. E.g. 01/05/2005 or 01.05.2005. The year can be entered as 05 but the day, month and year must always be separated by either a forward slash or a full stop as shown in the example.
The certificate number is used on the Details of Registration results page as a reference for the verifiers' files. Only the registration status of the certifier and the body are used in the checking process and the register does not hold details of issued or cancelled certificates. These are held by the scheme provider.
SER Ltd allow an Approved Body to nominate an alternative co-ordinator to cover the absence of the Certification Co-ordinator. The alternative co-ordinator's details are included on the register and are displayed when checking the registration of a firm and when checking the validity of a certificate of design.
